Artist and Fashion Designer

Josefina Kavaloski from Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon, Mexico has been an artist for over 70 years in many mediums including stone & wood sculptures, oil, pastel, watercolor and acrylics.

She began her career as a fashion designer in Mexico, and then made her mark in North Hollywood, California. Her client base included many Hollywood stars, particularly those of Latin decent. Her dresses and designs were featured on the red carpet of the Oscars and other star-studded events. At that time her other art work was a secondary, but constant part of her life. In between dress projects she took art classes at UCLA’s Hollywood Art Center and worked at refining her artist talents. In the latter part of her active Fashion career she focused on wedding gowns. Even today she remains active in both fashion and art. Her fashion projects are now limited to creating original designs and production of formal and informal fashions for her grateful family.

After her husband Joe Kavaloski’s death in 1997, Josefina painted as a form of therapy. She also made time to teach art to children bringing her much joy. As the years went by, her paintings have become more brilliant in color and whimsical in style.

She now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, to be near her daughter, Elisa Rasmussen and son in law, Milton Rasmussen. Also one of her three Granddaughters, Laura and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren live in Las Vegas. Another granddaughter, DeAna and her family live in Los Angeles.
